Description Subscripts and superscripts are way higher/lower in DejaVu Sans Mono than in Bitstream Vera Mono

Cause Positions and sizes of super- and subscripts set in TrueType tables are not equal for DejaVu and Vera, but it is not known if Firefox uses them (more information)

Bad "kerning" for some characters #7222

Cause first: weird behavior of the SHZ instruction, second: flag USE_MY_METRICS not used in composite glyphs (relevant threads on mailing list) (this is an unfixed spin-off from "worse than Vera" bug)

Sans Mono Roman and Bold not recognized by some OS X applications #7227

Description Sans Mono Roman and Bold are not recognized by some OS X applications like Terminal and TextEdit, but Oblique and Bold Oblique work fine

Serif Oblique is poorly rendered with ClearType activated

Description letters with a curvy top have bumps (see in FireFox and OpenOffice.org).

Cause Lack of instructions in Serif Oblique, ClearType autohints to font and does it poorly.

Fixed bugs

Qt 3.x applications can't display some glyphs

Description Qt 3.x applications can't display some glyphs in the range U+2070-U+20CF except the euro currency symbol

U+042B and U+044B behave badly in Sans Bold or Oblique

Description U+042B and U+044B from Sans Bold or Oblique are shifted to the right if there is a glyph next to them (see screenshot)

Vertical spacing too big for Mono

Description Vertical spacing between lines is bigger with DejaVu Sans Mono than with Bitstream Vera Mono

Cause Line gaps set in TrueType tables are not equal for DejaVu and Vera, but it is not known whether some of affected applications actually use them (more information; fixed in version 2.1)


LTR glyphs behaving like RTL

Description Some glyphs (namely U+03F6, U+03FD and U+03FF) behave like right-to-left in respect to cursor placing (they also overlap with existing text) - screenshot

Line height too big
